The Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Magherafelt District council helped secure total funding of £152,493 towards the Rainey Street Revitalization Scheme. There were 35 business and property owners who applied for this funding. This scheme was funded by DSD and there was a very tight deadline for completion of work and submission of claims.
Praise has to be given to Patrick Anderson from the Department of Social Development who was the link officer between Magherafelt District Council and the Town Center Forum for ensuring that the maximum funding could be diverted towards this scheme.

The Department of Social Development Minister Mervyn Story attended the official launch of the scheme on the 18th of March and addressed a cross section of the stake holders in the Evolve Centre on Queen Street. The Minister congratulated all those involved in the scheme and wished Magherafelt business owners success with their shop front transitions. The Department for Social Development has provided funding of £152,493 towards the revitalisation of Rainey Street. This brings the total town centre Revitalisation funding for Magherafelt to £402,000. The scheme is being delivered by Magherafelt District Council who is supported and advised by the Town Centre Forum and the Department for Social Development
The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank DSD, Magherafelt District Council, The Town Center Forum, All the business and property owners and contractors who brought this scheme to fruition and making Rainey Street a much brighter and inviting space to do business.
